  6.     Use the <PgUp> & <PgDn> Keys to review

  9.     ALT+B will bury the top window, exposing
  10.     the window immediately below.
  11.  
  12.     ALT+Z will alternately Zoom the window
  13.     from its current size to full screen and
  14.     back again.
  15.  
  16.     ALT+Q will Quit WindE (allowing WindE
  17.     to start-up in the same state it was
  18.     in when this session began).

  20.     ALT+X will eXit WindE (allowing WindE
  21.     to start-up with the screen in the state
  22.     that it is in now).

  24. The help files ( *.hlp ) provide a reference
  25. to new users. For a more complete descrip-
  26. tion of how to use WindE, refer to the

  33.     ■ WindE──mouse Editor.
  34.     ■ WindE──high productivity Editor.

  38. WindE is all of the above, but most
  39. importantly, WindE is a High Productivity
  40. Editor.  Programmers can spend as much as
  41. 80 to 90 percent of their time using a text
  42. editor.

  44.    ▌If it takes 8 hours to enter a pro- ▐
  45.    ▌gram, who cares if the compiler only▐
  46.    ▌takes 20 seconds to do the compile? ▐

  48. That is not exactly fair, we want all of our
  49. tools to be productive──but the point is,
  50. the place where the majority of the work is
  51. done is the place that stands to gain the
  52. most from being more productive.

  54. Editors are very personal tools──programmers
  55. love their editor.  Consequently programmers
  56. are skeptical about changing editors.  What
  57. makes WindE so special?
  58.    ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
  59.    ▌WindE was optimized to use the Mouse▐
  60.    ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
  61. The mouse is just a gimmick, right?  Wrong.
  62. In WindE, you will be able to point to a file
  63. name and with the click of a button, open
  64. the file for editing.  In WindE, with a
  65. stroke of the mouse, a block of text can be
  66. selected and with a click of a button, that
  67. text can be searched for, deleted, copied,
  68. moved, replaced with other text and all
  69. without having to do any typing.

  71. How many times have you entered a find
  72. command in your editor──and the following
  73. transpires:
  74.  
  75.     ■ Editor prompts for text to be found.
  76.     ■ You are looking at text to be found
  77.       on your screen.
  78.     ■ You wish you could point to the screen
  79.       and say "That text, right there!"
  80.  
  81. With WindE, that is almost exactly what you
  82. do, except that you point to the text first
  83. (select it) and then enter the find command
  84. (It is a reverse polish Editor!) via a
  85. pop-up menu.

  87. Having the ability to open any number of
  88. files (windows) simultaneously is a powerful
  89. feature, but the mouse makes movement between
  90. these files practical.
  91.  
  92. Some editors use the mouse as an after-
  93. thought, but equally as disastrous would be
  94. an editor that did not strike the correct
  95. balance between keyboard and mouse functions.
  96.  
  97. All of the mouse functions can be executed
  98. from the keyboard when it is more convenient
  99. to do so.
  100.  
  101. WindE eliminates unnecessary hand movement
  102. between the mouse and the keyboard.  Un-
  103. necessary mouse movement is also eliminated
  104. by using pop-up menus that pop-up at the
  105. push of a button (instead of having to move
  106. the mouse to a menu line).

  108. Read on──as you learn more about WindE, I am
  109. sure you will agree that it is a tool that
  110. can save you much time and make you a more
  111. productive programmer.
